Summer Bathing- What you need to know!

As the weather gets warmer and we can finally shed our layers, it's time to celebrate the summer. We love taking advantage of this time - going to the park, having a picnic, riding a bike, or taking a walk by the water and giving our skin some serious vitamin D love. After a day of enjoying the outdoors, you may be a little sweaty. So why not take a bath when you arrive home? We know a bath may sound like something only for the colder months, but we can definitely continue to have baths all summer long as there are many benefits of bathing in the summer with either a hot or cold bath.

-

Benefits of a Cold Bath:

With the temperature rising, a cold bath may be just the thing your body is looking for. Coldwater therapy can help improve your circulation, increase your energy levels and reduce inflammation. In addition, if you are overheating (because it's just too hot outside), a colder bath can cool your body down faster and get you to that desired temperature. Using bath products that have a cooling effect, such as our Breathe In Bath Salts with Eucalyptus and thyme oils, can help with the process.

-

Benefits of a Hot Bath:

In the summer heat, a hot bath may not be the first thing you want to try, but a hot bath has many benefits, even when the sun is shining bright. When it's hot outside, a hot bath will make your body acclimate to heat better by making it sweat and release internal heat. In addition, a hot bath can help quiet the mind of all the day's worries and allow you to decompress while reducing symptoms of anxiety and stress.

-

Post Exercise:

A cold bath can help decrease muscle soreness and soothe any aches or pains you may have- there's a reason athletes love this form of therapy. So, if you want to decompress and soothe your muscles, try our Retreat Bath and Shower Oil. This bath oil will help aid muscle recovery and relax the body after being out in the hot sun.

Bug Bite Relief:

After long days outside, you may have some pesky bug bites. Taking a bath using lavender essential oils will help heal your body with its antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties. Try using our Ascent Pink Himalayan Bath Salts. The mix of geranium rose and ho-leaf oil will uplift the spirit, while the lavender oil will soothe your body. Its naturally uplifting and energizing blend of 84 precious minerals; is like taking a multi-vitamin in bath form.

Soothe those sunburns:

While the sunshine is always well received, your skin may not feel the same. We have all gotten home only to realize we should have reapplied sunscreen and are left looking a little red. When this happens, try bathing with an Apricot Kernel Oil product. This oil has Vitamin C, which helps soothe sunburns by improving collagen production and Vitamin E, which helps reduce the risk of another by absorbing UV rays and thickening the skin. Our Breath In Bath and Shower Oil contains Apricot Kernel Oil and will rejuvenate and moisturize your skin to help avoid damage the sun may cause.

While bathing in the summer may seem counterintuitive, we hope with these tips; you will be excited to enjoy a nice bath in the hot months to come.
